I requested a background through Uber and Lift a month ago and I keep getting delays. There is no one to talk to solve the issue. It takes a day to run a background check. This is not a business but a scam. Uber needs to break its relationship with checkr because they can't provide the demand of the service.

Checkr provided incorrect information…

Checkr provided incorrect information to doordash and as a result had my account suspended. They indicated that my license was suspended, however while that was the case, the issue was resolved. My license was reissued in February 2025, however Checkr used information from October/November 2024. Their outright incompetence has impacted my capacity to earn. However the manager at Doordash understood the incompetence demonstrated by Checkr and began the process to reinstate my account.

This company is completely incompetent

This company is completely incompetent. A company that offered me employment hired Checkr to do their pre-employment background check.

When you receive the report if there is information that is flagged it’s clearly marked that the information you submit is in the LEFT column and the information they found is in the RIGHT column. They incorrectly listed the details from employment verification under the WRONG employer on my report and flagged it. (For example they entered details for company A under company B, of course it’s not going to match)

I tried to dispute it but they said they can’t change it because I provided incorrect information. It’s very easy to see the mistake was on their end but they refused to fix it. I submitted an “escalated case” for them to review and they still refused to fix it.

The Incompetence of this company is astounding. I thought background check services were supposed to be thorough and accurate?

Frustrating and Unprofessional…

Frustrating and Unprofessional Experience with Checkr

My experience with Checkr has been one of the most frustrating background check processes I’ve ever gone through.

I applied for a job, and the employer used Checkr to complete the background screening. As soon as I opened the link from Checkr, my personal information was already filled in — and to my surprise, it was uneditable. My middle name was missing, although the system indicated that it was “optional.” I attempted to add it, but the fields were locked. I went ahead and submitted the form.

About a week later, I received a notice that my documents were suspended because I had not included my middle name. I contacted Checkr immediately, explained that the fields were uneditable and pre-filled, and requested a new link. They told me I had to request a new link from the employer, which I did.

When I received the second link, the situation got even worse. My middle name had been inserted into the first name field, and the actual middle name field was still blank and uneditable. There were no new or updated fields to provide additional information. I submitted the form again, given no other option.

A week later, I was asked to upload a Driver's Abstract — but they didn’t specify what type. I submitted one that was 7 months old. Another week passed before I was informed that they needed a 3-year Standard Driver’s Abstract that was no more than 30 days old. I ordered a new abstract and uploaded it four days ago.

Now, more than three weeks into this process, my background check still shows as “in progress,” with no updates.

Overall, this has been an incredibly poor and disorganized experience. The system lacks flexibility, clarity, and proper support for applicants. I would not recommend Checkr based on this experience.

Pretty brutal if you ask me
If I was Uber or DoorDash or any company that uses this service I would stop using this service. It’s a lawsuit waiting to happen

I would give this place a 0 they did background for employment and I never got results and the report is old.I tried reaching out to checkr advising something is inaccurate about background check and they FAIL to resolve issue preventing me from employment. Checkr keeps telling me to take up with employer then employer is telling me to contact checkr.

I would give them 0 stars if it was an option. Supposed to start my new job today but I don't see that happening since they're still processing my background check, even though the timeline was from 6/2 to 6/7. Yall are a f**king joke. Useless af 🤦‍♀️

False Advertising Scam

I ordered the personal background report for $50. The company website completely misrepresented what I would get back for my $50. All they gave me was a list of each area saying complete or clear, with zero details. I ordered the report to get details on my SSN, the website lists the description of that report element like this "Searches databases, like lending institutions, utilities, schools, and credit card companies to provide basic information about a social security number such as associated names and addresses." The resulting report provided by Checkr had none of that, it said only "SSN Trace Complete" with no other viewable details. I was definitely scammed, hopefully you all are smarter than me and check TrustPilot before spending your money on this scam website.

if I could give a zero stars

if I could give a zero stars, I would.
I am beyond outraged with this company’s handling of my background check. They initially gave me an estimated completion date, which has long passed, and here I am—EIGHT days later—still waiting. Tomorrow marks the eighth day, and nothing has been done. No updates, no urgency, no accountability.

This delay has left me completely out of commission, unable to work or earn any income. I have bills to pay, a family to support, and responsibilities piling up while this company sits back and does nothing.

It’s absolutely unacceptable, unprofessional, and downright obnoxious how they continue to operate with no regard for the people depending on them. A background check should not take this long—especially when people’s livelihoods are on the line. Get it together. This is disgraceful.

I have to say it's a rubbish

I have to say it's a rubbish, incompetent company. They didn't accept the employment documents they specifically requested, and after several weeks of pending, they decided it was not approved. All thet had to do was make A phone call to the company lmao. Companies that use this garbage are also incompetent unfortunately.

Incredibly Unprofessional Company

I would give this company fewer than 1 star if I could. They cancelled a background check on a candidate for one of my jobs because of an error on their end. However, they still charged me. After an incredibly long and frustrating exchange with customer support (a serious misnomer for this company) they credited part of the charge back to the account. When I contacted customer support again to request a credit they responded with an email that abruptly stopped halfway through. The part of the email that was there promised that my case was being moved up the chain of command and that I should respond to that email with documentation showing my claim. I never received another email and all of the documentation is on there site. This is an absolutely unprofessional company.

SCAM

Unfortunately, I’m not able to give less than one stars but they certainly earned it. They charged me $99 and because my employee had only an ITIN number they were unable to issue a refund and unable to provide me any sort of report on them. So this company will charge you $99 and deliver you absolutely nothing. Complete waste of time and I will be following this review with a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Do not use this company. Do not use this company!

Worst background check company ever

Worst background check company ever. I’ve been waiting on my background check for 4 months now and it’s still pending. When I reach out to someone they offer no help and no legitimate reason for how long it’s taking. I wish uber would use a different company for these annual background checks
