Do NOT buy the Home Service Plus Plan
Do NOT buy the Home Service Plus Plan. We had a CenterPoint tech come out in April to repair our furnace. He replaced the furnace control board (which controls both the furnace and AC). We realized the control board was wired incorrectly when our AC didn’t work in June. We’ve been without AC for about a month through multiple weeks of 90+. When we called to report the error, the customer service rep said our plan didn’t cover AC repair and reminded us that the tech encouraged us to purchase additional coverage for the AC. Seems like a weird coincidence!! We canceled ASAP.

Their communication on what is covered…
Their communication on what is covered when you call in and what they actually cover are 2 different issues. I can't stress enough that you are better off not being a customer and calling a service provider to address when you have an issue. You will come out thousands ahead in the long run. Centerpoint claims they protect your equipment, but when you actually need them, they tell you to buy new before they even know what the problem is. Subscribe at your own risk but you can't say you weren't warned.

Unacceptable Delay and Poor Communication
Review Title: Unacceptable Delay and Poor Communication
I have been without power for over 30 hours, and the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I was told a technician would arrive between 8 AM and noon today to temporarily disconnect my power so the electrician could fix the wire your team damaged. It has now been over five hours past the scheduled time, and every time I call, I’m repeatedly assured that the technician is “on the way.”
This needs to be completed ASAP so the electricians can finish their work, and your team can reconnect my power so I can have service today! The lack of urgency and transparency is extremely disappointing. I expected better reliability and communication, especially in a situation as critical as restoring power to my home.

Abyssmal service
I am a physician at the Michael E Debakey Veterans Affair Medical Center. I am the guardian, power of attorney, and caretaker for my 77yr old mother who has health issues and lives with me.
I purchased a house in Manvel and moved it into it around Nov-Dec of 2024. My girlfriend transferred the water, garbage, electric, gas utilities under my name. She setup electronic billing and autopay so that we would not be bothered with paper bills. I am extremely busy treating military veterans and rarely have time to worry about things such as bills.
On Friday 2/28/2025, my gas was abruptly disconnected. To our knowledge, we have no outstanding dues. We have absolutely no notices of outstanding dues or disconnection notice.
1. As a result of gas disconnection I have no hot water in my house, causing extreme difficulties for a vulnerable person, my mother.
2. I called Centerpoint Energy Saturday (3/1/2025) morning and was told that my connection was disconnected due to non-payment of dues! However, there was no way to make a payment and get the connection reinstated - Centerpoint offices are closed over the weekend
3. This is a highly depraved and malevolent act by Centerpoint Energy -
a. Absolutely no statement, notification, warning delivered by email, USPS mail, or other forms of commonly accepted communication methods.
b. Disconnecting an energy supply in winter
c. Disconnecting a critical utility just before the weekend with intent to harm, knowing fully well that the customer will have no recourse for the next 2-3 days.
d. Putting a vulnerable senior citizen in danger
We have truly become a society run by greed and avarice, enabled by laws enacted by politicians who are only concerned about corporations and re-election donations by the latter. The lack of humanity and civility is at levels of depravity increasing by the day.

Reinstalling meter gone awry
I called due to gas leak. They pulled my meter until I got it fixed. Once fixed they refused to come put it back on after it was green tagged. After 2 days of them lying and saying they had been to my house but I wasnt home.
I have a ring doorbell. I was home and had to take the full day off waiting. That evening I said miss I have been here waiting on something that should have taken no more than 30 minutes. The next morning I spoke with supervisor which said our guy is in your yard now. Isaid maam I am home looking out the window and no one is in my yard. She refused to believe me. Later that night I decided to call in another gas leak to get the guy to the correct address that he had just days before removed the gas meter from. I missed work and was stressed to the hills. I didn't even get an apology they just said oh well. I would be great if they had dependable trustworthy people but they don't. They will lie and then accuse you of lying.

Dishonestly Uncooperative
I needed an inspection report to support my small claims court case about a leaky Samsung range. These stinking liars told me TWICE that the report was on it's way. Since I foolishly believed they were honorable, I refrained from subpoenaing the report. But, they finally told me they refused to send me the report after it was too late to subpoena the report. They also lied about calling me 3 times, and finally left a voicemail on my wife's phone, even though her number isn't even on my account profile. As soon as I can afford it, I will change everything in my house from gas to electric. If you ever need anything from these liars, don't delay or believe them. Subpoena what you need immediately.

Transfer Lie
My wife did a service transfer on Thursday. Stated the house gas was still on. I told her I didn't think so due to I noticed the appliances were not working. She said to double check and if not they would do an emergency connection on Friday. Thursday night came and still nothing was working so we called it in the next day. We asked for a 30 minute call ahead. The tech called at 2:26 and left after speaking with us and us stating we was on the way to the location. He left, and also stated he arrived at 2:03 which was incorrect. So we called it back in. The guy then guaranteed someone would then come back out. No one showed. I called back same day and spoke with a manager. She guaranteed she would get someone out there that night, no one showed. Now my family are stuck in a home with no heat. Had you said the you could not connect that day we would have made other arrangements not to be in this cold. If it was just me fine, but you have put my kids in the cold and now we are trying to work something out. Don't lie about what your doing.

My service was disconnected two days…
My service was disconnected two days ago with zero notice and no one can tell me why!! I just moved into my apartment and my first bill isn't even due yet. For two days I've been told someone would be out to see what the problem was but they knew all along my service was disconnected even though there was no reason for it. They're just marroons and they probably disconnected the wrong unit. We'll see how many times I have to call these fools tomorrow.

A lifetime minority of one.
As a "Real Texan, I would like to apologize for all in the Lone Star State, (Especially Dan Patrick and and Paul Bettencourt) who do not know the difference between blame and responsibility.
These pandering politicians are too re-election preoccupied to realize "prevention", and even their idea of preparedness, is not fianancially possible. Please continue the century old policy of product maximizaion.
My "fixed outcome" can not afford the, even Potemkin, level of maintenance these socialists expect, for free.
Non-tax funded intervention is the only area where (Even though their only insight of emergency relief comes from Hollywood movies and TV) the more vital response becomes, the more the "Great Unwashed" tries to tell Ringling Bros. how to run a circus.
Please volunteer me for any ad hoc, or customer feed back, curriculum you deem necessary.

Week without power
Week without power. Their estimate is pending review after promising one yesterday. Can't contact anyone. Power alert service is bs haven't received a single alert since signing up for it. They can't direct the personnel they brought in, nor pay them. They use out of date technology and consistently fail to deliver in crises. They're ceo sits in 70 degree rooms but tells us to be at 76. They made record profits at the cost of people's lives and comfort.

Centerpoint energy is not working in Houston…
Centerpoint energy is not operating fairly or efficiently in Houston. 100 million for what? All the while not investing in their infrastructure to prevent prolonged power outages. Houston needs an fair and honest energy company that can deliver power during storm season to all people regardless of expensive areas vs poor areas. Houston needs another energy company NOW. #centerpointless

Beryl Disaster!
Centerpoint has yet to restore the zip code:77354's power. Beryl hit on 7/8 and today is 7/10. I can't get through online nor can I talk to a real person. My husband and I pay the electric bill every month and yet when I go online to report an outage in my area, it states our address doesn't exist. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be in this situation. My husband and I had to take refuge in my Mom's house. She stays in Southeast Houston where the majority of people got hit the hardest. Magnolia and Conroe didn't get hit the hardest and yet still awaiting to get power again. This is pure madness and Centerpoint should be ashamed of themselves!

I have been a cnp customer way before…
I have been a cnp customer way before it was even cnp. This most recent issue with Beryl or whoever is showing how disappointed and unhappy i am with the company they have not tried to get our lights back on. This is now day 2 over 48 hours that my home has been without power and my family displaced. This cannot be real and someone should handle how these situations are completed moving forward. CNP you are the lowest of the low just know that

Regular outages…
Power outages are extremely frequent in my neighborhood. I’ve lived in the Houston area for over 43 years and never have had so many outages happening so much. Centerpoint needs to provide power in a more reliable way which if they buried their power lines would result in very very few outages. I don’t know how they handle all these outages but they’re not doing it right!
