Absolute garbage do not bother waisting your money!!!! Dose not read codes correctly on my bmw mini.
Cannot delete stored fault codes successfully either.And that’s if you can even get it load up the different modules without it crashing or just loading forever.
Even a budget scan tool would be far superior to this crap.

Unfit Product, Refused Refund, Poor Support

I strongly advise UK consumers to **avoid Carly**.

I subscribed to their service, which promises to offer diagnostics and other features via their app and OBD device. **Despite multiple attempts and receiving three different devices, none worked with my car.** Carly support were responsive at first but ultimately unable to resolve the issue.

Instead of acknowledging the product was **not fit for purpose**, Carly went on to **auto-renew my subscription** and charged me for a second year — despite my clear history of failed usage. When I requested a refund, they refused, claiming I was bound by “German rental law,” and ignoring their obligations under **UK consumer protection law**.

I raised the issue with **PayPal**, but Carly falsely claimed that the service was “delivered,” which PayPal unfortunately accepted — even though access was irrelevant because the service **never worked**.

This has left me out of pocket for a service that provided **no value at all**.

Key Warnings:

* **No refund if it doesn’t work for your car.**
* **Blame placed on “German law”** to avoid refunds, even for UK consumers.
* **Auto-renews without meaningful notice or opportunity to cancel.**
* Support admits issues but **refuses to resolve financially**.
* Doesn’t uphold **basic consumer rights**.

If you’re in the UK and your Carly device doesn’t work, **expect no help and no refund**.

AVOID

I strongly advise against

I strongly advise against using any products or services from this company. Not only did their scanner fail to work on my car, but the shipment was also significantly delayed by 12 days. To make matters worse, a year later they took money out of my account without notifying me. When I reached out to them via email, I received a rude and dismissive response. This company has shown a shocking lack of professionalism and customer service. Save yourself the frustration and avoid doing business with them

Auto-renewal ripoff

Carly state that they pride themselves on being transparent...what absolute tosh...no pride at all with this company. You buy the tool and they ask you to subscribe which you do to use the kit then the auto-renewal kicks in and they hit you every year for £89. They don't highlight this plus they actually lie in the description. I spoke with their so called aftercare and they say that the app license is renewed....that isn't true as that's only £56 they then auto-renew the Smart Mechanic function also at a further £33. Not transparent and to be honest when you use the word scam this actually does fit that. Such a shame when the tool is actually very good. There are other diagnostic tools out there as good without this heavy renewal package. Do not purchase.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with Carly's performance. It is far from professional — incredibly laggy, takes an excessive amount of time to connect to the car, and when attempting to check fault codes, it simply states, “this may take a couple of minutes,” but in my experience, it doesn’t even open anything and just stalls. This level of reliability is unacceptable

Marquise cat fish photo

Recently purchased a marquise cut engagement ring set and I understand they were closed for the holidays but upon making the order they never implicated delays

When I got the ring it was not like the picture at all the marquise cut was literally split in half in sizing and it didn’t look like the photo upon ordering

Very disappointed I waited a month for my package only to get something different to what I had envisioned

They stole from us AGAIN!!

Beware of this and DO NOT get it. My husband cancelled last year after they took £107 "renewal" from his bank. He cancelled it LAST YEAR. Well they've just taken £107 AGAIN!!! You can't speak to a human. There's no contact number. Customer service is a bot!!! It's a scam!!!!!

Its now left us unable to pay our full bills this week. We have 4 kids 2 are disabled so this is NOT what we needed. £107 might not be alot to some people but to us that's our food shop, electric, kids school dinners ect now we have to pick one to not pay.

0/10 absolutely AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

Was unable to logon to the app - appalling customer support

Was unable to logon to the app, nor the website. This has happened every time I tried to use it.

The BOT - was a total waste of time and a massive drain on anyones' patience.

I raised a ticket for a simple LOGIN issue and it took them a number of days to respond.

I've simply had enough and hence cancelled my subscription.

Carly licence is a scam - Do not purchase

I should have checked Trustpilot beforehand! Beware that the Carly product is a scam. The 'Premium" licence for £66+ which they tempt you in with initially is really just an advertisement for "Full" licence for another £60. The initial licence simply provides you with a very simple diagnostic report which serves no purpose with the limited information that it provides eg A Critical error was listed for "No seat adjustment due to engine start condition", strange that the rear seat doesn't adjust anyway! - Useless. Regarding the Coding feature, you can only check what you can adjust but you can't change anything without paying for the additional "Full" licence so all in all the so called "Premium" licence is not premium as it does not do anything useful. I am trying to get a refund but they are playing games and ignoring my requests, will do a chargeback instead.

We cancelled the order, but they sent it. The package was returned, they don't respond to emails, the money wasn't returned. We are filing a complaint with the authorities.

Beware of repeat subscription scam

Beware of repeat subscription scam, they will charge you for an automatic renewal if you do not cancel at least one month prior to the renewal date. They do not send you a reminder prior to this, when I complained they explained that they are under “no legal obligation” to inform you beforehand. Bad business practice and customer service.

Rubbish scanner

First time I needed to use this as fitted a new battery replacement on my Audi. Wanted to register the new battery, it did not offer this, what a useless scanner. The layout is poorly set out, this scanner is poor. I used an old carista scanner that I had given my son and he still used it, What a complete difference it was so simple to register my new battery with this app. I will be going back to carista as this Carly is useless. I even tried their new battery test which after 24 hrs said I needed to keep it connected for another 14 hrs as more information was needed, after which it did say I needed a new battery. Overall experience of this scanner and app is it is all show, and useless. for me a complete, waste of time and money. What a let down.

Product Poorly Let Down by Lack of Post Sales Backup

I bought this as it was recommended by Mat Armstrong on his fantastic YouTube channel. The product seems to work generally, but doesn't clear faults as advertised. I tried to raise this through their fault reporting process, which is checkbox formulated and anything unusual like my fault is practically impossible to report. I will also look out for the renewal catch as mentioned by other users.

RENEWAL NIGHTMARE - AVOID !!

I can't fault the product itself and I did use it whilst I had my car.

The main problem comes down to how they treat customers at renewal a year later.

They use an autorenewal system on sign-up but fail to notify you close to the renewal date to make sure your circumstances have not changed and to let you know a renewal payment will be taken shortly to give you chance to cancel if necessary. Unfortunately Carly had already taken my renewal payment before I was aware and Carly refused to issue a refund even though no notification was received from them before payment was taken.

The lack of empathy from their support team is appalling, with so little flexibility, they refuse point black to issue a refund despite your circumstances.
