Cancelled without a reason

UPDATE: I have now been informed that Campanile Glasgow will cease trading on 29/11/24. I think we had a lucky escape.
Made a booking on 02/08/24 for a 3 night stay in February 2025 for my Autistic son to attend an event at the SECC. I booked early so my son would not be disappointed. They made contact today to cancel the booking with no explanation whatsoever. They have had my money all that time, made interest on it and haven't issued a refund yet. No wonder they have such poor reviews. Do not use this hotel, there are others and they are cheaper and more reliable with much better reviews.

Good bad and indifferent

So Campanile Glasgow,
easy to get to,,parking £12.50 for 24,hrs I was going to pay but reception staff
Told me that I had booked before they changed car park policy they honoured the free parking.
I've seen reviews for rooms and have to disagree room 6 twin, both bathroom and bedroom was clean tidy, cupboard space is small, had tea and coffee, TV . On front of hotel very quiet.
Shower good but door fell off as no bung to stop it. Towel rail been moved but original holes not filled and painted, side table top ok so long as you don't move it(top comes off)
However staff were polite but minimalistic to say the least, young reception lady best of bunch. At breakfast sign said wait to be seated. We did, lady came asked for room number ticked us off list turned and went to kitchen not saying anything, I asked if there was any meat etc for continental breakfast as only half piece of ham left no cheese no croissants left. Answer it ham there and pointed to said bit. I Gave up and went to cooked food, it was ok but sausages looked like Cumberland but tasteless. Whole time we are she was on her phone not interested in any of customers coming and going
Not really sure this was good or bad experience but this is second Campanile that we've been to and not been great

Recent stay was awful

Recent stay was awful, found the hotel filthy, run down and over priced. No mattress protector on the bed it was scrunched up in the wardrobe along with the top cover for the bed which was very threadbare, there was a spare duvet which was very stained! In the cupboard. Carpet had seen better days and god only knows what was on the walls. They had staples holding the wallpaper up in the bathroom, the shower head didn’t go up or down. Tv didn’t really work the signal was awful. Wait time for our evening meal was beyond a joke, it looked like whoever was in the kitchen was only cooking one order at a time. Bar closed at 11, so no evening drink after concert for us! Breakfast- hot food was cold had to ask 3 times for hot food, staff said the burner wasn’t working and replaced that but not the cold food. They are now charging for car park which they never used too. We had used this hotel before and it wasn’t the best but this time was awful and beyond a joke!! For the price we could have booked hotel across the road for the same money. We will not be back. The staff were very apologetic and friendly but they didn’t / couldn’t do anything to rectify any of the issues.

Hi myself and my sister stayed in the…

Hi myself and my sister stayed in the campanile hotel from Friday till Sunday on the 4th floor including the breakfast . As much as we slept ok the beds were comfortable and the shower was amazing but we were disappointed in other aspects of the room . First of all the carpet was filthy and either needs a good shampoo or a new carpet . Dust along the skirting boards .The dirt and dust under the beds and at the back of the television was disgusting. We found black dotted mould under the bed and lampshade broken and the big light didn't work . We were told this was a family room but very little storage and more towels and cups shoud of been there . The television never showed a lot of channels and breakfast was ok definetly continental was better than cooked . The biggest thing for myself was the fact the window never opened we asked staff regarding this and was told the company wants the higher windows secured shut . Thank god we took a fan with us as the air Conditioner was full of dust . For the money we paid it wasn't worth it and won't be back at this hotel

Disgusting hotel & should be closed down

Disgusting hotel, absolutely filthy is an understatement, we could not use the shower due to black mould on the ceiling & in the shower itself. The carpet was manky, the curtains hadn't been cleaned for years and were falling off the rails. The bed was manky and made me itch, I am now covered in bites, so either fleas or bed bugs. The smell in the room was disgusting and couldn't open the window as the handle was broken. Absolutely nobody speaks any English & there is a smell of gas on the 4th floor. This place needs to be investigated it's an absolute health hazzard!

Stayed for OVO concert 6th July

Stayed for OVO concert 6th July absolutely disgusting nothing was clean nothing even had poop plopped on top of toilet seat cover. I can not stipulate how bad this was if it wasn’t rusty it was encrusted, mouldy, dusty, broken and I mean furnishings.Bathroom was a different level it was bigger than room it was wet room for disabled grab bar was dirty and covered in rust loo roll was no where near toilet because holder was off the wall so it was on sink at exit door great if your disabled, no grout on floor which was mosaic just filth the large drain itself the holes were sealed in dried dirt skin whatever skirting’s were lying on floor holes looked like sealed with toothpaste. Ceilings and walls dirty and badly water marked.Windows filthy inside, air conditioner above door OMG dust explosion I mean explosion. Not hoovered we slept on top off bed and watched clock until morning and forget breakfast I didn’t feel Hotel and staff looked hygienic enough to eat. This place is not clean making a bed and throwing in toilet roll is not clean it hasn’t been properly cleaned in a long time and definitely needs a deep clean. I was with my sister and niece it was £310 for one night in one room. Went to see Stevie Nicks which was cancelled to make matters worse they must put prices up on concert nights.Communication was bad due to staff not speaking English well or so led to believe they just shrugged their shoulders at simple questions.Do not waste your money on this place I would imagine Glasgow has better hostels cheaper and cleaner. My niece paid this as a treat the fact it hides in the shadows of The Hilton and car parks look as one don’t be fooled. I should’ve wrote review sooner but seeing someone on Scotlands Scammers complaining with same issue I thought potential customers must be warned.

Avoid at all costs if you have a car

Booked in before a gig at OVO Hydro. Was assured by receptionist that I was parked in allocated space, and registered my car. Slapped with £60 parking fine 10 days later. Hotel have refused to do anything about it and claim no responsibility. No instruction about separate entrance to parking area at either reception or phone call the day before to ask about specific parking spaces. Poorly trained receptionist obviously gave us wrong information, as I see that other reviews have stated the same. Parking fine cost more than hotel accommodation. This would appear to be a common issue that hotel staff need to inform customers about. Won't be going back.

Booked to stay one night on 12th Oct as…

Booked to stay one night on 12th Oct as hotel was close to SEC Armadillo and offered free parking. I then received various emails from Campanile before date of stay and emails gave time of check-in as from 1400.

Arrived at hotel just after 1400 and waited at the unattended reception desk and eventually I was approached by an unsmiling female who had been filling vending machines and asked what I wanted.

On stating that I was looking to check-in I was told that check-in was from 1500 and that I would have to wait. I pointed out that the email I had received from the hotel gave a check-in time of 1400 and I was asked to produce the email.

Couldn't access the email initially and was told I'd just have to wait. No sooner had I sat down than others arrived to check-in only to be given the same story - that they'd also have to wait.

There was then a steady flow of others attempting to check-in which resulted in a crowded reception area as unfriendly receptionist told them all the same story.

Then a male with an attitude appeared at the reception desk and loudly proclaimed to the assembled and disgruntled customers, "Check-in is only from 3".

I showed Mr attitude the email stating check-in from 1400 and he then smarmily asked, "And what website is that from?" On showing him that the email had come directly from Campanile he made a quip about he'd have to speak to somebody in the office and rather than offering any sort of apology, made off telling the original unsmiling female, "I suppose you'd better start checking them in."

By this time there was a queue of people right out the door.

On checking-in, no apology from receptionist either from despite it being blatantly obvious that everyone waiting had been given a check-in time of 1400.

Room was OK, albeit extremely noisy, but as others have said, bathroom and shower looked a bit stained and mouldy!

Would only stay at Campanile Glasgow again if nowhere else was available.

Attitude of unfriendly staff was disgraceful - especially as they had provided the check-in time.

AVOID STAYING WITH A CAR!!

My son was slapped with a substantial fine for using “free parking” whilst staying at this hotel . Apparently if you drive in and out of the car park the ‘“wrong way” it is actually part of Rotunda parking! Shocking signage and no clear barriers segregating either of the two! Apparently IN & OUT signage just isn’t correct! The company enforcing this has an appeal system which allows you to appeal but due to no communication within the 28 day appeal period he was forced to pay a £100 fine! Due to his career he has no choice but to pay as cannot be pursued by debt collectors. Disgusted by this whole experience! AVOID if you don’t want a parking fine when staying here with your car!

Avoid this hotel!!

Avoid this hotel!!! mold around windows, broken bathroom tiles which my wife tripped over, flooding in bedroom and looks to be a common thing as bottom of side units are damp and rotten. Marks on sheets and bedding when we arrived. Dust on lamp shades and around tv. Definitely won’t be back. And to think I paid £129 for that room for one night is making me more depressed. Only good point it was next to the Hydro.

After a complaint and photos where sent via email this was the reply :-

Nice Hotel

Very nice Hotel with breakfast at 06:30 which is great BUT no porridge on offer - in Scotland!
Also the Musak at breakfast is enough to drive you insane.
