Just been there for a check up at…

Just been there for a check up at Oradent ...excellent service thus far , no complaints with the staff ... my beef is with the electronic sign in ... I am a technophobe any thing to do with the slightest hint of a computer I hate ...
WHY OH WHY do companies force modern crap onto the public ...
This is one of the reasons I do not use the self check outs in a supermarket... if you make a mistake are then "you are to blame"you are then open to prosecution for misuse .. WHAT/WHY do you employ a receptionist.. surely it's what they get paid for ! ?

Appalling

Date: 27 Nov 2024

I went to oradent initially for an emergency appointment. It was Feb 2023 I had to go private because I couldn't find an NHS dentist for over a year. Whilst on that appointment I had started to discuss future options with the dentist. She informed me they had a dentist who could help with implant advice.

I left and booked an appointment to see that particular dentist (the practice owner Anish)

My stepdad then agreed to get me finance in his name and I would make the monthly payments. I was so excited that I would be getting my teeth sorted out. I felt extremely privileged to be able to go private. I assumed it would be a fantastic experience. I was so so wrong.

I 1st saw him in February 2023. I had many appointments with Anish between Feb and Nov 23. On numerous occasions I left in tears because of the way he spoke to me and treated me.

He would constantly shut me down. He would roll his eyes and even turn his back on me. He would make comments like "Oh kirsty, we are just covering old ground now aren't we".

But we were not. If I don't understand something then obviously it hasn't been covered, in my opinion. I would try so hard to tell him how I was feeling or if I didn't agree with something and he would just shut me down.

My sister had stepped in by the 2nd appointment to act as my advocate.

I have communication difficulties. I am disabled. Anish was treating me like an annoying child at certain points. Even in the response to the complaint we put in, he talked as though I were a child who didn't understand anything.

He even denied knowing I was disabled/autistic which was an absolute lie. We had full on conversations about it whilst face to face.

The work that was carried out was also awful. He placed the implant and did a bone graft. I got a massive infection within hours. It turns out I was not a good candidate. The bone graft failed. After the infection had cleared he then wanted to place a crown on top even though the implant was completely visible. He told me if I don't do a big smile, you won't see it.

The whole point was for me to be able to smile with confidence. I should not have to hide it when ive paid thousands.

I was supposed to have a permanent top denture made up. Something had happened to my lower jaw/teeth though because now when I close my mouth, my teeth do not close together. My bottom teeth jut out by about an inch! So the top denture would have to be extremely thick for it to work. Waheed (a other dentist) tried his hardest to make up the permanent one but it was impossible.

I don't know what happened to my teeth/jaw because they used to bite together absolutely fine. Waheed said I would have to now see a specialist but I don't have the money for that.

I had a complaint in with the GDC and the clinical advisor said that because I had active periodontal disease and I was a smoker, I should not have been given that implant. He should have 1st treated my gum disease. Because without treatment, the risk of it failing in those circumstances are very high.

The GDC said that although they believed some of the allegations could be proven, they didn't believe it would amount to misconduct. They closed the case.

This dentist took out 3 of my teeth without so much as an xray to confirm prognosis of those teeth (again confirmed by the GDC)

Since last year I have been stuck with a completely visible implant that has no tooth on it. And a temporary denture that cuts my mouth and gives me reoccurring ulcers all over the roof of my mouth. I have lost well over a stone in weight because I can't eat properly. I now have to drink protein shakes so I don't lose even more.

He charged me thousands of pounds for the above.

I am absolutely astounded that a uk dentist can treat someone like this.

I went to another dentist to find out what needed to happen to fix my mouth and I was quoted 18k. They would now need to do a lot more work because of the botch job Anish did.

Confident in Great Care

I had a clean and polish on the 20th and returned 3 days larer for a DEEP CLEAN I was very very nervous (always had a terror of the dentist ) and as normal my relatively new ( to me ) dentist Tayo is just an amazing compassioate human being, great sense of humor but sensitive to my terror lol! Each time I've seen him now- 4 or 5 times in total ,I have nothing but appreciation and grateful thanks to him and his lovely dental nurse .Honestly an hour at the dentist isn't what I'd choose to pass my time lol BUT I do NOT fear the dentist as I had especially when I had to leave Miss Didvar ( also an angel ) AND the dentist after her who was ALSO , SO lovely .Thanks too ,to the reception staff there who are calm amd efficient and kind in their dealing with people ,have seen people speak to them in a less than respectful manner but they take it in their stride. I am an NHS patient but they all at the practice treat me with care and respect.Hats off to ORADENT ASHFORD and much thanks 😊

Speaking of the dentists

Speaking of the dentists, they are not just highly skilled at dentistry, they somehow know just how to handle my very nervous self and produce results I could only have dreamed of.

I'm a dental patient at Oradent

I'm a dental patient at Oradent, Ashford. They always are polite, professional and I've always felt very much at home here. It's a great team of dentists, dental hygienist and front of house reception which always delivers the very in best customer service.
I spoke with Julie yesterday, to see if I was able to change, both my dentist and dental hygienist appointments, so I could attend a funeral of someone I know from church. Julie is empathetic, polite, and has the very best manner, she put me at ease, and looked for a double appointment that I might be able to change to. Julie found one, but it meant waiting between both appointments, so I decided to keep the appointments I have booked. I am very thankful fo Julie for her attentive, pleasant and patient manner while I worked out which was best appointment was best for me to keep. Julie has the very best customer service skills. It is a great team at Oradent in Ashford. Nothing is too much trouble when it comes finding appointments at the suitable times to the customer. The Dental experience and the customer service is the very best, and Julie is a credit to Oradent. Oradent at Ashford always provides a five star experience and thank you to them.
