Honest review deleted

I gave an honest review of an issue I had in an apartment complex that I live for 3 years and it was deleted from apartment.com reviews.

Advertised Prices Often Inaccurate

This company allows apartment management companies to lie about and/or bait/switch apartment prices. Apartments.com should require that management companies actually have apartments available at the prices they advertise. For example, a community will list apartments starting at $1000. But when you actually see the inventory all the apartments are renting for much higher prices, like $1500 or $1600/mo. Even so, the site can give you a good idea about apartment location and amenities. One comment I've seen a few times is that you should always see the actual apartment you're renting before signing the lease; the models can look a lot different than the actual apartments.

Apartments.com Supports Scammers!!

Apartments.com allowed their listing agents to support and work for FRAUDULENT Landlords!! Taylor Roy was a listing agent for Apartments.com She referred an African immigrant man who was impersonating a landlord. Taylor vouched for “Willow Passion” and claimed that he was a nice landlord. This man scammed me and sent me death threats because I didn’t send him more money. This is Taylor’s information: rd. Taylor vouched for “Willow Passion” and claimed that he was a nice landlord. DEVELOPERS AND LANDLORDS BEWARE!
Stay away at all costs. Their salespeople are absolute con artists. They lock you into contracts then blackmail you when you cancel. They are a failing company partnered with another losing platform called co star. They cannot compete with Zillow or other competitors. They will ruin your online reputation for sure. STAY FAR AWAY.

The website is not user-friendly if they reject your ad, they do not tell you why. I have posted my listing on multiple platforms and I have gotten the most replies from Facebook marketplace out of all the places I’ve listed my rental

Been a resident for over 2 years and very happy with Eagles’ Landing…they really keep after the grounds and have a great maintenance team…they respond nearly instantly…the office is always helpful and friendly and seem genuinely interested in the quality of life here. I love all of the greenery and happy that there are no huge/high buildings in this complex.

Fake, phony reviews. 3,2, and 1 star NOT allowed

People spend time and money to move. Many use the reviews to get a good idea of what the place is like. It is evident that Apartments.com is nothing but fake reviews. There are no 3,2, or 1 star rating after about 2014. Apartment after apartment I looked at have the same behavior....everything is 5 star rated.

This disgusting and deceitful.

Joslen Commons Hudson, NY

Our apartment complex is advertised as being luxury apartments - the rent is very high but the quality is extremely low. Rotted out door frames, missing siding, garbage all along our walking trails and over the weekend - someone decided to decorate one of the hallways with the F word. This is not luxury living people - this is slum housing.

1000% AVOID THIS PLACE

* I HAD TO give them the 1 Star so I could write my Honest Review! In Feb of 2023 I unfortunately rented unit #11 at 55 Bahia Way in San Rafael, CA because, #1.) The fantastic view of Mt.Tam. And, #1 and 1/2.) "Apartments.com" gave it a 4 Star review! But, in reality, in my 50 yrs of On/Off renting, it is the absolute Worst Place I've ever rented at! They were Rude Do Nothings, that DENIED anything needed to be repaired, beginning with the cockroaches I was blamed for bringing, although I hadn't moved ANY of my furniture, or belongings, into the apartment yet! I was cleaning the walls/cupboards before moving anything in and I saw them in the cupboards just as I was leaving at @ 3:00 am! I NEVER moved anything into the apartment, not even my bed because, though they FINALLY had exterminators come spray, in @ JUNE, there were still cockroaches walking around, in OCTOBER! 8 MONTHS AFTER I MOVED IN! I just left all my belongings in my storage unit at a rate of $363 a month, so I was paying $2,258 a month instead of just $1895 a month, for 2 years. The garbage left in front of my front door by the neighbor next door to me was finally, and begrudgingly picked up, by one of the "technicians", as they called their useless "handymen", about 1 year after I moved in. They had kept telling me it was a RELIGIOUS SHRINE! YES, because the neighbor was foreign! The "SHRINE" consisted of a dirty old pie tin, a couple of empty beer bottles and caps, cigarette butts, 2 dead plants, and small crumpled up pieces of gum foil and paper! Then, there was the intermittent zero water pressure and no hot water, the stench of POOP from the constantly dripping water in a parking stall at the bottom of the back stairs, that I'd get dripped on me as I walked out to my car. It was coming from a broken toilet pipe that leaked since before I'd moved in, but they kept angrily telling me it was just water leaking from a window cooler! I emailed the "property manager", 1 and 1/2 years after I moved in, to tell him I just called the San Rafael Police Dept. to send a cop over to check the stench of feces water, as an "Impartial Witness". Boy! He DID NOT like that! He had the useless repair guys show up 2 hours later. A whole 1 yr and 1/2 after I'd moved in and complained repeatedly about the stench and that l thought it was POOP! Turns out I was RIGHT!! Also, the windows that wouldn't open/close properly, the STENCH in the bedroom, that I could never sleep in because the stench was so awful and I believe it was residue of the feces water pipe break. It still stunk when I finally moved out on Feb 28, 2025. I looked for another place, DAILY, from the moment I saw the 1st cockroach, but I have a cat, and that made my search difficult, PLUS I work Graveyards and Weekends, so it was DIFFICULT to look for apartments during my sleep time which is when apartments are shown.

I DID NOTIFY Apartments.com about this awful place I rented because of their 4 Star recommendation, but all Apartments.com did was to "advised" me to COMPLAIN to the LANDLORD!! REALLY? GEE, I would never have thought of doing THAT!!!" And, THEY DELETED MY HONEST review that I posted on their website AS A WARNING TO DECENT PEOPLE NOT TO RENT AT THIS COMPLEX so that they wouldn't be victimized like I was, for 2 solid years! Also, No city or County agency, or department, in Marin County HELPED ME and I'M A SENIOR. I was either totally ignored, even by the City Council, or I was directed to this or that person, at numbers that had been disconnected, or the persons who answered were clueless. I got directed from 1 department to another, to another, and you end up going in a huge telephone circle! It's a total disgrace and I always hear that Seniors are a PRIORITY! That's a complete lie! I paid every cent I was supposed to pay for rent, each month, but I got a DEFECTIVE PRODUCT!! DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT AT THIS SLUM BUILDING. THEY RIPPED ME OFF FOR 2 YEARS! I DID NOT GET A CLEAN, OR LIVABLE, APARTMENT IN GOOD WORKING ORDER WHEN I MOVED IN. A TENANT cleans the laundry room and clears the leaves, and the walls to the complex ARE FILTHY! No one ever came to clean the complex. JUST DON'T MOVE IN HERE. THEY WILL BLAME YOU FOR ANY REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE MADE, IT'S FILTHY, WATER PRESSURE IS BAD, NOT ALL THE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS WORK, THE WATER FROM THE KITCHEN SINK LEAKS ALL OVER THE FLOOR, THEY ALWAYS SAY THEY'LL BE THERE "TOMORROW" BUT THAT'S A LIE, on and on, and on!

Just say NO to Apartments.com

I was lulled into a false sense of high expectations. I actually believed that by listing with Apartments.com that I would get strong exposure to my property in Los Angeles. I used their free listing in the past but now was subject to their exorbitant fees and a six month contract. After two months and not one lead I asked to cancel my contract. They obliged but are now reneging on their previous statements. Also, to note, I wound up listing my apartment with another service and was rented within 3 days. I guess what I'm saying is DO NOT USE APARTMENTS.COM. There are better free services available for mom and pop property owners.

Where do I even begin

Where do I even begin. It won't accept my normal routing and account number. HOW? I have multiple automatic payments set up on that account. 5 business days to process an ACH debit?? For a RENT payment. Being forced to pay an exorbitant amount of fees for their own folly? Absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention all the bugs that they don't fix.

Ashford Belmar is a 0

If I could give Ashford Belmar a 0 I would. This property is not safe because management does not respond. If you want to feel safe and know that management has your back, this is not the place! I was assaulted in the stairwell and the management did not respond once to my complaints over a 6-week period so I had to move out.
Parking after 5pm is impossible and you will park almost ¼ mile away and walk. You will not be able to invite friends or family over because there are no parking spaces available. And they will sticker and tow you immediately if you park in any other spaces.
I was promised that the skylight and water damage would be fixed when I toured and it was never fixed the entire time I was there after multiple requests and this was a FIRE HAZARD. There was a flood in my apt from the refrigerator WHEN THEY DIDN’T INSTALL IT CORRECTLY, and they never mitigated IT. We had trouble breathing and my dogs were struggling - no response.
I have over 10 packages stolen or delivered incorrectly through the Luxor One system. The management does not care about your lost packages. They say it's not their problem. Luxor One consistently did not have footage so your packages and mail are not secure.
The worst part is that I had an issue with a downstairs neighbor being very loud, aggressive, and threatening to where we had to call the police multiple times with NO RESPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT after we complained. The portal does not keep record of any of your communication and they will say they never received it. They have lost records of the complaints and they did nothing to mediate or respond to my concerns about the threats my neighbor made of me and my dog being beaten up by my downstairs neighbors - EVEN AFTER WE RECORDED THE BEHAVIOR OF OUR NEIGHBORS, THEY DID NOTHING. I ultimately was assaulted and beaten up by two of these neighbors in the stairwell and I haven’t been back since – AND MANAGEMENT NEVER RESPONDED TO MY CONCERNS ABOUT SAFETY AS I WAS MOVING OUT. Living here was one of the most stressful and traumatic events of my entire life.
