Lying, No Communication, and Predatory Charges

On Sunday, June 15, I lost my apartment key as some of my belongings were stolen and was locked out. I called the accommod8u to have the door unlocked and put in a request for a call back to get a new key issued (the company's decision for a call back for a new key). Since I didn’t have a key, I had to leave the door unlocked when I left the apartment.

I never received a call back about the new key. When I returned on Friday, June 20, I found that the door was locked which seemed impossible as I don't have a key and had to leave it unlocked.

It wasn’t until Monday, June 23 that I found out that accommod8u had changed the locks without notifying any of the tenants or providing new keys. They claim I requested the locks be changed, which is completely false, I only requested a new key for the existing lock. And I understand it is for safety reasons for a new lock, but no notice to changing the locks OR how to get new keys for ANY tenant is unprofessional.

Now I’m being charged $75 for the service call (to have someone open the door for me), $350+ for the new locks and keys, and additional service fees, despite the fact that I was only locked out because the locks were changed without warning.

This was an incredibly frustrating and costly experience caused by miscommunication and a lack of basic notice, and I’m sharing it to help future tenants understand to never rent with accommod8u.

Terrible experience but Temi from the front desk was great

I haven't had much interaction with accomod8u and everything that people tell you is pretty much true. I tried to get out of my lease and signed an N9 an year in advance but the company changed over to a different portal therefore losing my information. It took me 3x to finally get it all fixed and it was all due to the help from Temi at the university ave location. My advise to people looking to find a lease for school in Waterloo is to walk around the to all of the buildings and call the numbers on the side of the buildings. Don't fully rely on using online services to find a lease because not all of the rental companies have a significant online presence. If you do end up dealing with accomod8u then look to find Temi to help you!

My daughter has been living there since…

My daughter has been living there since Sept 2 and has had the worst service!! Bathroom ceiling leaking first week, No Internet for first 2 weeks had to get it fix herself after calling many time. Pay $150 for parking with no permit or parking spot. So many times have to wait 1/2 -45 mins for one or park 2 streets over and walk back. Bed bugs which she had to take days off work and they are trying to bll her for. By Law it is the Landlord responsibility. When called because smoke dector is not working she cant book a maintenance request because they say she owes money for bed bug sprY.windows dont work and was put on initial inspection when she moved in. They do not return calls or emails.

Find Another Place For Your Kids

I urge anyone reading this to find another place for your kids to live while attending school in Waterloo. First of all, prices are higher than alternatives. Secondly, the service is horrendous. Nearly impossible to get someone on the phone and when you do talk to a customer service rep, they never seem to know anything.

The cleaning crew stole items from my son’s unit, for which we successfully recovered money through court action.

Beware that any deadlines are strictly enforced. Bring your key back late and you deposit will be forfeited. Amanda, the “customer care” manager I dealt with, refused to use any discretion. I have to wonder if they are rewarded for keeping money.

Stay Away

Do no rent from this company. During COVID-19 I was supposed to have my lease end and not be tied to the apartment anymore. However, during the entire pandemic the employees at Accomod8u were kept telling me that no 'lease facilitators' working when I called (even though I had called for 12 straight days, hard to believe no one was working remotely or virtually for that entire period) and they kept saying that they were only office staff and couldn't help me. Fast forward to the week after the deadline to cancel the lease and magically the Accomod8u people are up and running again, sending me emails left and right that I have overdue balances ON A PLACE I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE CANCELED, now whenever I try an contact an upper managment person to speak about the issue im told no one is available and ill get a call back, and guess what IM STILL WAITING FOR ANY CALL BACK FROM ANY EMPLOYEE AT THAT COMPNAY FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS.

Save yourself the headace, time and especially money and stay away from the crooks. Even if they give you a discounted price watch out, it only lasts for the first 2 months of your lease then they'll charge you interests with no notice

Absolutely the worst management…

Absolutely the worst management apartment buildings.

Filthy - cleanliness not maintained
Excuses - no ownership or accountability for maintenance issues
Unethical - had to lie on the application that we were graduates of local universities - was told by property management employees
Fiscal - no credit check with application - will rent to anyone
Overcharge - underground parking is $130 a month per car - absolute rip-off
Poor Communication - maintenance request are unanswered, no response, everything requires an escalation to be dealt with, and then still no resolution
Pride - some tenants leave garbage in hallways, common areas and underground garage - how do people live like this - and it takes the building weeks to clean it.

This place is an absolute nightmare so my recommendation is to avoid at all cost.
