Appalling experience with a call handler called Georgia. Just plain rude. Don't listen and talk over you and make mountains out of nothing, calling the police because I left my house after the call. The person I've just spoken to would be better working in the prison service

Very unhelpful

Very unhelpful. I called because my son blacked out (and then came round again instantly). I simply needed advise as to whether I should call an ambulance and go to an and e. After 20 mins of questions the result is still completely inconclusive. A pointless waste of money for the tax payer.

dangerous unsafe and untrained staff…

dangerous unsafe and untrained staff answering calls asking questions that they do not have the clinical knowledge about. Leaving it over 18 hours to call back and then calling at six in the morning in the hope that you don't answer so that they can triage to your GP. I had a road traffic accident collision and in the end my GP told me to rest and to take paracetamol. I went to the accident in emergency which I could've done in the first place, and not called 111 being left in two days in pain just occasion I don't know what to do with !!! So they aren't fit for purpose. i got the x-ray and referral to physiotherapy within three days. But now I've got to go back as I've got other symptoms that have appeared since the accident. I called 111 for help again they left it for 18 hours and then were insulting me down the phone - trying to get me to get the bus when it's I can't hold on with dislocated hands. they are dealing with people who are distressed in pain and trying to deal with an injury and get Support to get out of the house. I won't use them again I can see that they are completely not trained in diffusing distressed patients - they discriminate against people who've got trauma and think that they have the right to cut a call when it's done that's causing the problem by not understanding patient care and not being trained by the NHS store for and diffusing a person he's clearly distressed - that is not excellence in patient care and clinical practice - it's dangerous, ignores the duty of care and puts peoples' lives at risk. Instead of getting on with a consultation they talk around the subject and waffle which I think is lack of experience and knowledge by saying "it sounds frustrating" I don't need someone to sympathise with me in an emergency - I need them to say that is a injury escalation risk so we should get you to a hospital straight away. Instead they were talking and talking when I asked them to stop - with all this language that I don't understand because I'm traumatised by a car impact a bike that landed on me - autistic ADHD so my brain doesn't process anything they say. I think it's also the way they speak because they're young they feel like they've got to fill in all the gaps and it's an emergency line for people who are injured not a chat line for people have got Mild mental health problems and fancy a run around. Both of them find out the facts then moving on telling me that they can cut the call and it's being recorded . I won't phone again how inexperienced, putting me at a disadvantage as compared to somebody without my impairment and hence unfit for purpose

Worse than useless

Worse than useless in almost all circumstances. Save yourself 6 hours and just head straight to your local walk in centre, or A&E.

I'm actually surprised I'm writing a good review considering the many negative comments, my doctors can be terrible, phoned 111 this morning, got a call back and given an appointment at my local hospital this evening at 8pm, seen not long after my appointment time but only because all computers were down, lovely doctor, got a prescription to collect tomorrow, very pleased with the service.

No sepsis knowledge

I called for my disabled son who has had sepsis 14 times, they can access his medical history as I gave permission. Told I would get an call back, however this didn't happen.

Next morning got an call, prescription organised I was told I would receive an text to pick up the prescription, got no text. Little knowledge of sepsis, not sure how they work, but if anyone says sepsis to me I know antibiotics need to be ASAP to prevent the infection worsening. Not an good experience overall.

PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES

Help from my G.P.surgery was non existent despite the condition of my husband. Told to phone back tomorrow or book a telephone appointment 2 weeks away! At no time did she suggest to approach the 111 service! This I did in desperation. The service arranged transport for my 83 year old husband, the ambulance crew were so efficient and yet friendly. The A and E at Darlington was very busy but always treated us with professional respect. The doctor we saw was so understanding and kind. He contacted Ear Nose and Throat department. The doctor there also kind and respectful. Provided appropriate procedure to aliviate the problem with advice for ongoing care. Thankyou all! Don't forget the lady who provided tea and coffee! Well done all!

Terrible

Terrible. Strong attack of cystitis in the middle of night. They tell me they ll call back in one hour. It s 3 AM in the morning. I wait for 1 hour. No sleep. Another person calls me asking me the same question. they tell me the only appointment available is tomorrow morning with my GP. The night awake was for nothing. In the morning, the call back never comes. Honestly… they make you feel very unsafe. Not trustworthy guys, terrible service

Bad attitude and useless

The questions are stupid! Asking what’s the main symptom but it sure all related and one isn’t the worker it’s them all together! Phones twice today and been speak to by 2 different women both with bad attitudes! Was told to call back up after 6:30pm to speak to out of hours to get a telephone appointment instead of a walk in Center, but the out of hours just say go to a&e when all I need is some antibiotics! They so go to your gp but I work nights and sleep in the day which means I can’t go to the gp that’s why I phone out of hours! They really are useless!

Pharmacy First - NHS 111 unaware of age restrictions

I had already been to the pharmacist about a UTI but they couldn't help because I am over 70. So I tried 111 online, whose advice was 'go to a pharmacist'. Is 111 not aware of the age restrictions for Pharmacy First? (I did eventually get the appropriate advice when I phoned 111.)

NHS is absolutely awful. 111 terrible service 0 stars!!!

I’m pregnant & needed cream for a groin/nappy rash as Vaseline, sudocream & aloe Vera gel weren’t making it any better. I called my midwife at 5.30pm on Friday, she recommenced clotrimazole cream 1%. Some places required a prescription for this. An independent pharmacy said I can’t have it without a prescription. As she was finished & gp surgery closed, she advised 111. They asked RIDICULOUS questions, not even relating to pregnancy or nappy rash, just read off a script!!!! And fobbed me off with a phone call when all I wanted was a prescription. 7 hours later a GP called. By then I went to boots pharmacy got the clotrimazole cream WITHOUT a prescription over the counter & waited 7 hours for nothing awaiting callback. THE NHS IS ABSOLUTY AWFUL the 111 service is even worse.

I needed urgent medical help yesterday…

I needed urgent medical help yesterday sunday 29/06/2025, so I rang 111, the NHS service for assistance. I got through and spoke to someone who told me that a clinician would ring me back urgently. I waited for 1 hour with no call being received so i rang back, they could not trace me, it seems that my call had ended in hampshire. nowhere near erith where i live

Pointless.

In agony, need help, 1½ hours later I'm still waiting for a call back, getting texts saying 'if I'm worse, call 111', what would be the point??
Edit; 4 hours later I got a call back. I appreciate this probably was not the fault of the staff on duty, and more a reflection of the dire state of our once brilliant NHS.

No care.same as always

Rang up with same issues for last two weeks woman seemed like it was half amusing who was meant to be nurse or GP
Still a diabetic without the things that I need pancreatic pain after surgery and cancer removed take creon and they're not bothered can't see a GP can't see or get a diabetes nurse I can't get checked out. Can't get bloods done if you feel unwell and you keep feeling unwell it's not getting better you can't get an appointment because they refuse to check you over no duty of care and negligent care even with serious issues. 111 tell you to go to the place that you've already been urgent care centres that have sent you home and sent you back to your GP and not done the basic things wasting money to travel there not everybody drives not everybody can afford to. Basically they just dismiss you and you ring for the same thing again and again and again GP care is non-existent healthcare is non-existent in this country.
Made to feel worthless dehumanized and all of the services complete waste of time don't do anything!
No level of care going on in the UK disinterested and the same with GP's negligent and not doing anything not seeing anybody and not dealing with any problems.
They normally make people feel very worthless mentally exhausted and just upset

Gonna be suing 111 NHS for medical neglect after four and a half hours and eight assessments later and still being fobbed off and being told to complain over emails which get ignored and never answered when I have a drive bleeding wound and asked for help they are point blank refusing now to deal with me looks like it's gonna be a hospital visit again and me finding my own way there again this is going to far they don't treat anyone with disabilities very fairly

Absolute waste

The amount of times I used to ring 111, for physical and mental health which to me mental health is worse seeing as I've been actively suicidal and tried so many things to end it for 10 months, even one time a doctor from the 111 crap rang me and said "you need to go to hospital, you can't keep yourself safe". If I went to Salford Royal I would be shoved in a busy waiting area when now I haven't just got autism, schizoaffective disorder and severe psychological problems, I also have severe agoraphobia. I respect the north west ambulance service, only one paramedic has been extremely rude but others have genuinely wanted to help me, even the last time they come to my property they were here for over an hour making phone calls to try and find a way to forcefully remove me and take me to hospital. Yes the mental capacity act is in some ways a load of crap, especially when it comes to mental health, and I google the things I do to myself before I do them that's the only reason I know what could happen and that is all you need to know to have the mental capacity, not bothered if you're so mentally gone that living is absolute torture now. So I am sending all the evidence I have purposely collected over the past 10 months and hopefully no other Mancunian or Salfordian in the future with have to be neglected, unsupported, ignored and abused by the national health service, mental health services and greater manchester police like I have and others going through the same now. I hope my death saves others 🙏

Absolute rubbish…

Absolute rubbish service................
Just as bad as the Doctors.
I suffer dreadfully from Gout (which is one of the most painful symptoms one can get). Getting my tablets from 111 is like 'pulling teeth'. I'm sat here in tremendous pain and they will not press a button and allow someone to go to the Pharmacy and pick them up for me.
I am waiting for a phone call which seems will never materialise so that they can give me another assessment which I don't need. Just give me the tablets for gods sake.
No wonder all the reviews on here are one star. Is our NHS really this bad?
There is no hope whatsoever for the youngsters coming on behind us.
What a shower.
